Arusha National Park is a small but incredibly diverse park located just 45 minutes from Arusha town and about an hour from Kilimanjaro International Airport. Although it is one of Tanzania’s lesser-known parks, it offers breathtaking landscapes and unique safari experiences. The park is home to Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, as well as the beautiful Momella Lakes and the Ngurdoto Crater (often called “Little Ngorongoro”). Unlike other northern parks, Arusha National Park allows walking safaris and canoe safaris, offering a more intimate way to explore nature. Wildlife includes giraffes, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, colobus monkeys, flamingos, and a variety of antelope species. While you won’t find large predators like lions here, the park is perfect for scenic photography, birdwatching, and peaceful game viewing.
