Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic and compact safari destination located at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment in Northern Tanzania. Just about 2 hours from Arusha, it is often the first or last stop on a Northern Circuit safari. The park is famous for its tree-climbing lions, large troops of baboons, and beautiful alkaline lake that attracts thousands of flamingos during certain seasons. Despite its relatively small size, Lake Manyara offers diverse habitats including groundwater forests, open grasslands, hot springs, and the lake itself. Wildlife in Lake Manyara includes elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, hippos, and a wide variety of birdlife — making it an excellent destination for bird lovers and photographers. Lake Manyara is ideal for a short safari, day trip, or as part of a longer journey that includes Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater.
